"Hidakami Kiln" Yuka Suzuki pottery studio is a pottery studio built in Yoneyama-cho, Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture, an area with abundant clean water flowing from the Kitakami River, the largest clear stream in Tohoku, and the Kitakami Mountains of the Ou Mountain Range.

Ms. Suzuki trained and learned traditional crafts at Tsuboya ware in Okinawa Prefecture and Masuko ware in Tochigi Prefecture. She dedicates to create pottery that fits modern lifestyles by personal interpretation, based on the techniques she learned during the training period.

Fired in seven types of kilns using white porcelain and lignite ocher from around Taiwa Cho, Kurokawa District. Please enjoy Daigamori glaze produced in Nanatsumori.

The name of the kiln comes from the place called Ikazuchi, which is located on the mountain side of Shibata Town.

Pottery is made to be easy to use and has a gentle texture. It will be our pleassure if the design can make you feel warm and positive. Because the motif of the pottery comes from colors of the rainbow, which is also a symbol of ""hope"" and ""peace.""

At Kanagama, we aim to create pottery that will enrich the feelings of the customers who use it. The artist has been interested in the color development of copper, the raw material for Turkish Blue glaze, and has been researching it since he was a student.

This time's sake cup was created using a combination of Turkish glaze and transparent glaze to create a light impression. Hope you like it.

We produce pottery for everyday use using natural glaze firing in an hole type kiln using red pine as fuel, and glazes made from local miscellaneous trees and straw ashes.
